Asteroid Day is a global event that challenges the people of the world, working together, to obtain the data about our solar system that will prevent future destruction to our planet, as well as educating the public about asteroids and space.
Aerolite Meteorites President and National Space Society Governor, Geoff Notkin, has been a prominent speaker at Asteroid Day each year since its inception. This year, 2017, he was Master of Ceremonies at a featured event at the Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium in Tucson, Arizona. A two-hour show was recorded in front of a live audience, during which Geoff introduced five leading figures in space, astronomy, and asteroids. The show was recorded and televised as part of the worldwide video event from the Broadcasting Center Europe studio in Luxembourg on Asteroid Day 2017, June 30, hosted by Professor Brian Cox.
ArcLight Pictures and Desert Owl Productions co-produced a documentary film -- "Action Scientist: Asteroid Day Diary" -- directed by Eric Schumacher and chronicling the preparations for this major international event. Including exclusive interviews with Dr. Dante Lauretta, Heather Enos, and Erin Morton of the OSIRIS-REx mission, it's a rare behind-the-scenes look at two-time Emmy winner Geoff Notkin at work on what he does best -- sharing his passion for space, science, and meteorites with the public.
